Resident Evil 2D Reborn
This game KICKS ASS. A very good Resident Evil fan game. This would make anyone appreciate what RPG Maker can do. Big congratulations to the creators.
You play as Molly Fletcher, a 19 year old college dropout who spends the day mooching around her apartment, only to realise in the evening that the T-Virus has been unleashed and Raccoon City is overun with zombies.
Pros: *Classic Resident Evil, right down to the Menu system and puzzles.
*Very entertaining, as it introduces us to new and origianl characters outside of Capcom's Racoon City.
*Addictive.
Cons: *Items are really hard to see, so you'll be running around a lot and straining your eyes.
*Not enough backstory on the characters; but that's a personal opinion.
*Addictive. :)
Lowdown: Most certainly worth the download, especially if you're an RE fan. A lot of effort went into this game.
1. INTRODUCTION
Yup, I actually bothered to write a readme file this time! Complete with crappy
ASCII art. Hopefully this will help you to play the game. Or not. If you need to contact me, then send me a PM through the GamingW forums.

3. CONTROLS
Z key/ Spacebar: Action Button/Open Doors/ Fire Weapon (whilst aiming)
X key/ Escape: (hold) Aim Weapon
1 key (Numpad): Open/Close status screen
3 key (Numpad): Cancel Button (In Status Screen)
Arrow keys: Move character/scroll status screen etc
When you start the game, you'll be controlling the main character. You use the arrow keys to
move the character around the game's locations. Pressing the 1 key (Numpad) will open the status screen.
STATUS SCREEN
Once in the status screen, you'll see a highlighted box at the top of the screen. Use the left and
right arrow keys to scroll the highlighted bar over the different options (FILE, MAP, ITEM and EXIT).
Pressing the action button whilst an option is highlighted will select that option. Pressing
the action key whilst EXIT is highlighted will quit the status screen and take you back to the game. Selecting FILE takes you to the file submenu, and selecting MAP takes you to the map submenu. Selecting ITEM takes you to the Inventory. There you will be able to check and use the various items your character is carrying. Pressing the 1 key whilst controlling the hightlighted bar also takes you back to the main game.
ITEMS
After highlighting the item you wish to use with the red box cursor, press the action button. You then have several options in a choice window: USE/EQUIP, CHECK, RELOAD (Firearms only) COMBINE or CANCEL.
USE/EQUIP
To use the item, highlight USE and press the action button. For weapons EQUIP will appear instead of USE. If you select EQUIP, you'll be equipped with that weapon. You cannot attack an enemy in the game unless you have a weapon equipped. You can only equip one weapon at a time. Selecting EQUIP on a weapon which you are already equipped with will unequip it. Depositing an equiped weapon in the item box (see later) will also uneqip it.
CHECK
This option allows you to examine an item or weapon you have acquired. Highlight the item, then select the check option to acquire further information about the item.
RELOAD (Firearm weapons)
This option tells you how much ammo you're weapon is holding, and allows you to reload the weapon with additional ammo you may be carrying. Highlight the weapon, then select the reload option to find out how much ammo your weapon is holding.
COMBINE
Some items have a different effect when you combine them with other items. For example, sets of parts can be combined together to make new weapons, or weapon upgrade parts can be used to upgrade existing weapons. Herbs can also be mixed to change their effect and
save inventory space. Highlight the item, select the combine option, then use the arrow keys to move the cursor onto the item you wish to combine with. If the items cannot be combined, you will be informed with a message telling you this.
CANCEL
Removes the options and lets you return to moving the red box cursor.
Pressing the 3 key (Numpad) whilst scrolling the items returns you to the highlight bar at the top of the status screen.
SPECIAL ITEMS
There are 2 special items that you start the game with, the Ammo Pack and the Reloading Tool.
AMMO PACK
This appears amongst your other items and has a brown bage icon. It is a large bag that the characters use to carry their ammunition for various weapons. Selecting it wil take you to the Ammunition submenu, where you can check how much ammo you have. Highlight the Ammo Pack and then select it with the action button to reach the ammunition submenu.
The ammunition submenu behaves in a similar way to the item inventory. Just move the cursor to the ammo you wish to chech, then press the action button to see a message telling you how many rounds of that ammo you have. To return to the item inventory, press the 3 key (Numpad).
During the course of the game, you can deposit the ammo pack in the item box. However, you will be unable to pick up any additional ammo, or create ammo using the reloading tool, if you are not carrying the ammo pack.
RELOADING TOOL
This appears above the other items, in a box below the EXIT option. Whilst in the item
inventory, press up whilst highlighting the top right item slot to highlight the relaoding tool, and select it with the action button. This will take you to the reloading tool submenu.
The reloading tool is similar to the ammunition submenu. Press the arrow keys to move the cursor, and highlight the various letters displayed (A, B, C, AC, BC, CC and CCC), then select them with the action button to check how many measures of that kind of gunpowder you have. Selecting the MIX button allows you to mix different powders to create more of another kind. For example, mixing one measure of Gunpowder A with one measure of Gunpowder C will create one measure of Gunpowder AC. The RLD option allows you to select a measure of gunpowder and turn it into ammunition. NB You must be carrying your ammo pack to do this. If you use lots of gunpowder A or B to create lots of handgun or shotgun ammo, you will eventually be upgraded and be bale to create a more powerful version of Handgun or Shotgun ammo.
To return to the item inventory from the reloading tool submenu, just press the 3 key (Numpad). More details can be found about gunpowder mixing in the Game Instructions B file that can be found in the status screen's FILE submenu.
CONDITION
On the Status Screen next to your characters mugshot is an electrocardiograph (ECG). This ECG shows the current condition of your character, and will read "FINE" or whatever the status of your character is. To return your character to better health, you must find medecine items, like a Green Herb or First Aid Spray.
MAP/FILE
There are 2 other functions you can perform from the Status Screen:
MAP: Select this option to take you to a submenu. Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll up and down, then select the highlighted map with the action button. If a map's name doesn't appear on this submenu, then you have not found that map. Look out for papery objects in the game! A red circle appears next to the name of the map you are currently in.
Select a map with the action key, and you'll see a large map of an area. Your current location is marked with a yellow arrow marker. Press the action key to return to the map submenu. Pressing the 3 key (Numpad) will exit the map submenu and return to the highlight bar at the top of the Status Screen.
FILE: As you explore, you will discover notes, messages or other information that will automatically be filed in your characters notebook. Select this to view the contents of messages filed. Hints may develop from these notes.
ITEM BOX
You will notice your character can only carry 8 items at a time. You cannot lose an item once you find it, but you can use it up (like a herb for example). In order to carry only the items you need at a certain time, you can store other items in an Item Box.
These are located in strategic places, and you must use them wisely. Stand in front of the item box and press the action button. An option asking you whether you wish to deposit or withdraw items will appear. Selecting 'deposit' will take you to the item select screen, where you can choose the items to deposit. This screen is similar to the status screen. If you select the 'withdraw' option, you can then choose END GAME to return to the title screen (Make sure you save your progress first!) or ITEM to take you to a menu where you can pick the item you wish to withdraw.
SPECIAL CONTROLS
CHECK ITEM
Same as action button. If you press the action button during game play, your character will check the object in front of them. A message appears to let you know what you found. If there is nothing there, no message appears. This control also opens doors and taks to other characters.
USE WEAPON
Hold the X/Escape key to draw weapon, then use the arrow keys to aim in the direction you wish to fire. Press the action button to attack with the weapon.
PUSH ITEM
Some items cna be moved by pushing them. Face the item you want to push and press towards it with the arrow keys. If the object cannot be moved, your character will not try to push it.
4. STORY OUTLINE
Imagine a normal mid-western U.S. town, built at the base of a vast forest. Business thrived here, especially with the advent of several new industries. Heck, you couldn't find a more peaceful wilderness getaway than Raccoon City.
Then the trouble began.
And it leads back to when the corporation arrived.
Rumours began to spread, and the town was overcome with odd occurances. Unidentifiable creatures appeared out of nowhere, and fatal accidents happened at an alarming rate. Word got out about a severe accident at a mountain lab. No one in town knew what was happening to their quaint town.
However, normal life continued for Molly Fletcher, as it did for most of the resident of Raccoon City. She looked for a job, while her mother worked at the Hospital and her father worked in the Umbrella Office building. Then, one autumn night, the situation worsened. Molly was completely UNaware of the overwhelming world of horror and despair that was about to unfold in her home town.
5. CHARACTERS
MOLLY FLETCHER: Molly is an athletic 19 year old woman. She is quick witted and fiery, and quick to anger. Although she can be aggressive and tough, she is a warm hearted and loyal person. She lives in an apartment in Raccoon City with her parents. Molly is currently unemployed after dropping out of college.
NICK WALKER: A strange man who Molly meets in a bar. A former detective in the RPD, he became bitter after losing his job in unusual circumstances. Just as stubborn as Molly, the two share a similar sense of humour.
ADA WONG: Molly stumbles across this mysterious woman who is quite secretive, yet, at the same time, a professional and skilled investigator. She can also come across as condescending, and has a tendency to talk down to those she deems inferior to herself.
6. SAVING AND LOADING THE GAME
To save a game you must place an ink ribbon into a typewriter. Ink ribbons can be found in various places throughout the game. Once you find a ribbon, stand in front of the typewriter and press the action button. You will be asked if you want to save your progress.
To load a previously saved game, select the load game option at the title screen and then select the appropriate save slot to load the game.
7. CAN'T SURVIVE? TRY THIS:
LISTEN:
You can hear the zombies stirring in a room even though they may be off screen. Listen carefully as you explore to help you prepare for sudden attacks.
USE WEAPONS EFFECTIVELY:
Weapon effectiveness varies with range and target. Determine the best weapon for the situation, taking into consideration ammo availability. This is the single most important factor in survival.
KNOW YOUR ENEMIES:
Each enemy is uniquely shaped, attacks differently and moves differently. Get to know your enemies and their weak points. This can make you a more effective survivor.
TRY ALL OPTIONS, SEARCH ALL AREAS:
Stuck? Come across a new room with nothing to do and nowhere to go? Try using items, pushing, climbing, investigating etc. Walk the perimeter of rooms and areas to find more medecine and other important items. Check dead enemies for ammo.

IMPORTANT CHANGE FROM FIRST DEMO: At the point where you place the bomb on the bookshop wall, you now have to check the wall after placing it to set the detonator.
3 key is now cancel in the menu.
I THINK most of the menu bugs have been removed. At least, I never have any problems with them anymore.
