Zombie Hunter
Everything you could want in a NES game is here, graphics, sound and easy control. This is Zombie Hunter and it is not even violent.
Graphics are amazing, when you turn on the console, there is a crystal clear title screen, which does amaze me as it is not often that you see one in a NES game. The sprite you control looks brilliant. So does you sword, even the creatures that you fight, although they don't really look like Zombies which does negate the name "Zombie Hunter" The levels are wonderfully detailed with lots of different obstacles in the way. Right from the word go you can tell this game will be wonderful. Obviously lots of effort has gone into the graphics of this game.
Sounds, again brilliant. The sounds are more than mere "beeps and bomps" it is like the first decent music in any video game, and for that I applaud the creators, they have truley invented a catchy tune. The slashing of the sword is brilliant, the sounds of the monsters, again wonderful.
Story, Ohhh. This is where the game fails, there is basically no story line, the game is called Zombie Hunter yet I see nothing that even closely resembles a Zombie, the story is what stops the game getting a full 10. It would have got lower if this game was on a new console, but you really can't expect a NES game to have that much story any way.
Gameplay. This game is a retro Hack 'n Slash. Tap the A button, swing your sword, kill on enemy, game freezes while you collect box, continue. The game freezes when you get a box do get annoying quite quickly, but the stuff that you get from them is worth it. The controls are very easy to pick up, you just tap A and B constantly, you will most likely not get killed, but saying that, this game is actually quite difficult. The enemies appear out of no where and kill you, this is annoying when you have been playing for quite a while and then something pops out and kills you, thus meaning restarting the game.
It is worth investing money to get this game, it is one of the unknown gems on the NES, there should have been more games like this.
